ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Title: 'Studland Hill' Living on the Isle of Purbeck on the south coast of England I am surrounded by beautiful vistas and ancient sites. My work is an attempt to distill these elements through colour and form. To walk the fine line between realism and abstraction then allows me to get closer to the truth of this stunning area. It is this that I hope will be communicated to you through my work and bring something of the elemental power into your home or office. Work practice: I work in Acrylics (on A2 - A1 Hahnemuhle Archive Quality Papers 450 - 640 gsm) which enable me to work fast and create multiple colour layers which add depth and nuance to the paintings but also give me the ability to rearrange and adjust my compositions as I work. All my works are abstracted landscapes with a degree of geometric formal composition that suit open and minimal spaces, adding complementary forms and colour in to any interior. Thanks for your interest.

Kimberley Day is a working artist who lives on the Isle of Purbeck on the south coast of England. Her abstracted landscapes are a response to her local environment which she regularly walks, cycles and swims through. These ever-changing emotional landscapes are described through her application of paint and pastels in an attempt to capture both the literal place but also the feeling and energy of the trees, the sky and earth — the vibration and magic that is held in the light, the soundlessness when lost in the forest or crossing empty but well trodden paths. Endeavouring to use a palette that expresses the tonal harmony of our natural environment and enable her to share this meditative process with you — here living on that infinite boundary between land and sea.  • Open to commission • Currently working with Interior Designers creating prints and original works for commercial spaces.
