About The Artwork
Study for Gaius is a small study for one of the biggest and most important works that constitute “The Great Golden Room”, a large-scale project that was exhibited in early 2015 at the Bath of the Winds of the National Museum of Greek Folk Art in Plaka, Athens. It is actually inspired by the Sony Playstation 2 videogame “Shadow of the Colossus” made by Team ICO and in particular by the third colossus of this incredible game. It is an exquisitely detailed work made with drypoint, ink and egg tempera on paper.

Working in Athens, Greece, I am an interdisciplinary artist specialised in drawing, painting, 2D + printmaking, video, comics, photography, animation. I have exhibited nationally and internationally and I have published various works. I have long experience in illustration and cover art. My work investigates the relationship between occidental and oriental art, the distinction between ‘high’ and ‘low’ as well as the appropriation of non-art by art. Recurrent themes include: Japanese motifs, the concept of the boundary, pop culture references and the impact of media on artistic practice and sensory perception. I am currently teaching painting and printmaking in undergraduate and postgraduate level at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Ioánnina in Greece since 2021.
