ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I have created a series of 12 x 12 abstract acrylic paintings highlighting a dramatic but limited palette. This piece is another in that series. My process is creating the artwork involved pouring the paint on the canvas and then embellishing it after it dried with a variety of mark making. This is experimental work and great fun because you cannot predict what the finish product will look like in advance. I hoped the viewer would be encouraged to look at the piece close up as well as from a distance because it has a dramatic impact both ways. Abstraction was the best style for me to use here to create this impression.

After retiring from a long, rewarding career as a high school teacher and administrator, Myra discovered the joys of painting, especially using water media.
