A medium size painting measuring three by four feet, it has a lot of rough textured passages that combine with thin acrylic glazes to produce a surface of unusual contrasts and visual interest.
The subject is evocative of nature untroubled by the presence of humans, referencing the era of the romantic movement and the Hudson River school with their evocations of what they liked to refer to as the sublime.

Until quite recently beauty had become a dirty word in contemporary art circles, aesthetic beauty in art seems to be making something of a comeback. Some might say it's resurgence is long overdue.
