For me, painting is much more than a picture in the classical sense, but is characterized by plasticity. Thus the concept of painting gets a new dimension. The inspiration for this are the folds in the paintings of old masters, in modernism and in the everyday context. I apply the principle of folding both on a pictorial and material level. The structures created by folding create a new spatiality and dissolve a perceptible distance to the colour compositions. The layered application of paint corresponds to classical painting with its phenomenon of additive and subtractive painting techniques. The antagonism between figuration and abstraction fascinates me. Coincidence and planning are further foundations of design. The colour develops its independence on the given structures and is an essential feature in the artistic process.
