TOGETHER IN THE STORM Print

It was a very ordinary June day, which in no way foretold that such interesting events would occur. I had taken some framing pictures at a friend's studio in downtown. We sipped on coffee and talked on all sorts of topics, commenting on different works by different colleagues, until a tall, big man with warm blue eyes and a smile that didn't go out of his face appeared on the door. He greeted in Russian and began to remove from the envelope with the zeal of a surgeon, carefully three small pictures on the same subject, / MOON NIGHT ABOUT HALKIDIKI /. I was scrambling for profiles to choose the right frame, and I asked him if he was selling these small masterpieces. He nodded his head affirmatively, and so began our long conversation, which continued at home. Not long after, he asked me if I wanted to paint a picture together. The plot was clear without talking. He wanted to paint the soul of the sea, and I would paint the iron men with wooden boats. Then I thought of other giants of Russian painting who worked together. In 1877, Aivazovsky and Repin painted a common picture together (Pushkin's by the Sea). To this day, it impresses the visitors of the Tretyakov Gallery, which it owns. Pavel Pasternak was born in 1937. in the city of Petersburg, a member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation.
