ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Not for sale, the painting is in private collection. "Tallinn snowy roofs" is a painting from the collection "The cities of Europe" made with oil on a canvas in the figurative technique. Tallinn is the capital of Estonia, of my native country. The old part - "Vana Tallinn" is a beautiful place with red tile roofs and houses in medieval style. In winter the roofs are covered with snow and the city turns into a fairy tale! These unique views inspired me to create this painting to remember the beauty of this city.

Maria was born in Estonia (Narva). She started drawing and painting at a Children's Art school when she was 11 years old. And in the year 2000, Maria moved to Spain (Madrid) and continued her artistic education until 2005. From 2002 to the present, the artist has participated in collective exhibitions and organized individual exhibitions in countries such as Spain, Belgium, and The Netherlands. - Member of the Association of artists in the Netherlands. For Maria, art is food for the soul and it is the divine essence that we all have and that is expressed through art. It is cyclical: the longer we are in contact with beauty and harmony, the greater and more precious our Essence will become. Interview for Art magazine ?s=Maria+Obraztsova+Z MarOZ: I would like to start my story by reciting the words of Leonardo Da Vinci: “Painting is poetry that you see, and poetry is a painting that you hear.” - What was your route to becoming an artist? MarOZ: From a very young age I knew how to draw very well, I think this ability was due to my mother’s genes. My mother was an authentic artist, she handled many different techniques, such as crafts, making clothes, painting, making papier mache, … When I was 11 years old, my mother enrolled me in a children’s art academy at the suggestion of my art teacher at school, that’s when I started to study drawing and painting academically. Years later I continued my studies at a private art school in Madrid for five years. From 2002 until today I have organized my personal exhibitions and I have participated in group exhibitions in countries such as Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands. - What is your chosen medium and what are your techniques? MarOZ: At the art school in Spain I began to study portrait techniques. At first they were acrylic portraits, then I moved on to oil techniques and later to oil with white spirit, all in figurative technique. A little later I started to paint landscapes and for this I used abstract and figurative techniques using different textures such as gesso and natural materials that I found on my walks on the beach or in parks. - Tell us a bit about your process and what environment you like to work in? MarOZ: The process of the birth of a painting is mystical. It is something like gestating a baby. At first a feeling permeates your being. The feeling that there is something that has to materialize through you is growing day by day.
