Thirst drives the herd to the watering place...In a day, an elephant can drink 50 gallons (200 liters) of water. Or in a year a single elephant could drink up to 18,250 gallons of water. How about a herd??? Herds usually consist of 8-100 individuals, depending on terrain and family size. When a calf is born, it is raised and protected by the whole matriarchal herd. I love the work of Maxfield Parrish and Claude Monet and use their working methods as a departure point for my work. I always try to paint on fine weave linen using glazes for depth and richness, and I follow the time tested principles of painting using archival materials on stabilized linen to create a painting that will last centuries

David Zimmerman was born in Washington, D.C. in 1946.He began his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1964. He continued on in his training with Bill Woodward at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. In order to receive a bacalaureate degree he transferred to George Washington University,where he studied Drawing and Printmaking with Frank Wright. He was granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts in 1970.After a brief perod of training with Phillip Pearlstein in Massachusetts, he returned to George Washington University where he again studied with William Woodward and Arthur Hall Smith. He was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting in 1976.
