About The Artwork

It is a painting made in watercolor on A4 paper, a representative painting in which the mother of God is illustrated, Mary holding the baby Jesus in her arms. A sacred theme that aims to celebrate Christmas, as it recalls the birth of the child of God. I like to make small-format watercolors because I spend a night producing many of them, and in the end I see their result as if it were a study notebook. I can paint on paper and lean on the table, which makes me feel more intimate in the process. Watercolor is one of the media I like and use the most, by the way my favorite media are oils, watercolors and drawings; the watercolors are in this middle ground between painting and drawing, as it preserves the spontaneity of the paper drawing as well as the hues and pictority of the colors.

Jorge Paulo Quiros born on 01.23.1989, Brazilian, plastic artist, art teacher, from an early age his identification with the arts was already evident. Author of several works, influenced by romanticism, symbolism and expressionism, his paintings stand out for their vivid, striking colors and strong brushstrokes throughout the work, and in addition to an approximation of image symbols with the naturalist image, aligning the timelessness of the beautiful with the fleetingness of his style. With a profound knowledge of art, the author shows in his work the inspiration that comes from within himself and through the canvas, paints and brushes, he gives life to his creation. The process takes place, therefore, in this confrontation between the observer and the object of contemplation, be it internal or external contemplation, in which the object speaks to the observer; what the image communicates to the eye and what the heart expresses in the support; composing by this relationship the process whose result is the plastic work, which is the transubstantiation of the perceived reality to the demonstrated reality, or rather, revealed. The image, being through the artist's language, a receptacle for a series of ideals and formal elements, is printed on canvas or on paper, revealing all the impressions contained in the image through the plastic work, the work being the new receptacle of the ideal and the elements of were portrayed and poetized by the artist's language expressed in the work. This confrontation takes place through an idea, which once emerged in consciousness, urges me to produce and express it in the best possible way; I see my process in this breaking out of the search for the expression of the idea that is made by a constant and progressive sketch of the form. With this, I consolidate imagery in naturalism through the various elements of image expression, which are symbolism, the subconscious, combined with the various aspects of the perception of exterior forms. The images lie in nature and in memory, memory being the timelessness of temporal nature, the impressions of the images I produce come from both sources, composing a metaphysics of the image, whose work expresses the elements of natural form as well as image elements interior that the artist evokes from his imagination and from the veiled face of nature noticed and revealed by the artistic process.
