"The Trees of the Garden of Eden" draws its inspiration from the timeless mythos of the biblical Garden of Eden, a place of unparalleled beauty, innocence, and abundance. The biblical narrative, with its symbolic imagery of pristine gardens and sacred trees, serves as the primary inspiration for this painting. Additionally, the universal longing for paradise and connection with nature infuse the work with a sense of wonder and reverence. The painting is inspired by the biblical account of the Garden of Eden, a mythical paradise described in the Book of Genesis. The lush imagery of Eden, with its abundant foliage, majestic trees, and tranquil surroundings, serves as the foundational inspiration for this piece. The symbolic significance of the trees within the garden, particularly the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, provides a rich narrative backdrop for exploration and interpretation. My hope for viewers of "The Trees of the Garden of Eden" is to experience a sense of awe, wonder, and contemplation. Through the vibrant colors, intricate details, and emotive atmosphere of the painting, I aim to evoke the timeless allure of paradise lost and the eternal quest for spiritual fulfillment. I hope viewers will ponder the themes of innocence, temptation, and the human longing for connection with nature and divinity. Ultimately, I seek to provoke introspection and dialogue about the deeper meanings embedded within the mythic landscape of Eden.

Born in 1970 in a family of ceramic artists, Georgian painter Otar Imerlishvili is known for his whimsical scenes that depict daily life through the colored lens of innocence and wonder. Travel, love-making, bathing, dining and dancing are all part of the visual narrative. In some paintings, grassy grounds and multistoried houses are set on top of each other – cities become towers. Often they simply turn into men – one city meets another city in a friendly handshake. “From sublime dreamscapes to idiosyncratic family portraits and detailed images inspired by my childhood, my work is both contemporary and symbolic of the traditions of Georgian life. My main inspiration is the set of stories from my own life – my childhood and the everyday being of my city, Tbilisi,” says the artist. Born on 2nd January 1970
