Together Apart Print

‘Together Apart’ forms part of a series of explorative paintings of life. They represent an image, an organisation, a marriage, a belief, a religion, and a corporation. They are a narrative to every facet of human existence. The collection of paintings, titled ‘ORDER and CHAOS’, focuses on the facade we see each day, in how order is demanded from us in society, yet disguises the everyday chaos we know exists. Within each painting, your eyes will be drawn instinctively to the raised dots. Lying behind this order is the chaos. The dots themselves are raised and coloured in juxtaposition, creating a 3 dimensional effect which catches the light when the canvas is viewed at different angles. The bold splattering of inks and oils lie within the resin, absorbing you into the painting. Even chaos can create and demand order, but the question is which one becomes which? ‘Together Apart’ is a commentary on a year of both global division and unity in the face of jingoism and segregation, whilst also unifying people in the wake of such challenges.
