Born and raised in Philadelphia, currently live in NYC and Woodstock NY. My work has gone in various directions simultaneously: from representation to abstraction, apparent simplicity to intricate complexity, small scale to large, The exploration of visual ideas on the two-dimensional plane is what interests me. At times this means drawing from nature, attentive to form and light, then thinking about color relationships, pure form, systems of pattern. Though disparate in subject and approach, there is consistency, of hand, sensibilities. Style, like any other self-conscious external motivator, is antithetical to the real experience of work and process. Memory, experience, dreams, fears, desires find expression through a visual vocabulary built and practiced over many years. Exploration and discovery are too interesting to over-manage as they take me to unanticipated places and present me with challenges I would not otherwise have.
