ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This was from a figurative drawing class in a church that is on a many year plan of being renovated to become a community creative center for a run down borough of Pittsburgh. My drawing studies end up frustrating and I often move from pencil to watercolor. The model was turned away from her viewers. I like to create mystery in my subject matter with the face turned toward her surroundings which I created for her with what came from my imagination, a sunrise or a sunset in front of a body of water. Water soothes and brings me inner calm. I hope that viewers feel the calm that I do in looking at the landscape and feel self-acceptance upon reflection of figurative art. I paint in acrylic and oil as well as watercolor. Painting in watercolor feels freeing; I feel comforted by how soothing the brush on paper feels. I love sunsets. I'm not often awake for sunrises but those are inspiring, too, when they do happen.

Thank you for your time and your consideration in stopping by. In 2020, I started painting after a dry spell of not painting since college. In 2021 I experienced a creative intuitive push to finish final edits after 13 years of editing, revising, working with an editor to publish my novel, once and for all, Finding Moksha: One Woman’s Path in Uncertain Times. Painting provided my need to express myself when there were no words. I started showing my paintings and creative essays on various platforms. Nature is my biggest inspiration and I experience great peace when I am walking in the woods, hearing the twitter of the birds and seeing trees all around me. I have a fondness for color and how light changes it. Receiving a scholarship with Rome Art Program, I painted and drew all over Rome with international teachers in the summer of 2021. The creative process continued as I made connections through networking online and through others I had met in person. I never planned to exhibit in Paris at Carrousel du Louvre in the fall of 2022 in Paris; it just happened through a mutual connection by way of Vienna. I paint with mediums of acrylic, watercolor, and oil with cold wax, with no attachment to the outcome, other than listening to my feelings of what feels right. My vision is that you who have stopped at my page feel inner peace, self-compassion and self-acceptance. My wish is that you hold onto those vibrations as you create and build your interior spaces with my creative works. To learn more about tips on finding your self-acceptance, follow me on IG: .
