My name is Silvia. I am originally from Italy where I have attended a school of art first then the school of architecture in Rome where I graduated as an architect. I always liked to draw, technical or free hand, no difference to me, always loved and love them both. At present I am very interested more than ever, in paintings, mainly with oils and coloured pencils. In the secondary school, I studied art, after, as I was saying above,I graduated becoming an architect. Between floor plans, elevations and 3D, I started to go back to my first love: freehand drawing. I have always loved drawing since I was a child, using the pencil from HB to 6B for shading, then I decided to add color to my still life, my favorite subject. I started with coloured pencils then oil pastels and then oil paints. The more real my still life is, the more I feel that I am getting closer to my goal: to make my subjects alive. The paintings are created using a multitude of layers, starting with a first layer of greys, then a second, a third and then adding colours to maximize the effect of the real look. The creation of each piece begins with the selection of vintage-style objects of excellent workmanship and design, all collected in second-hand shops, where people bring things that are no longer necessary but so precious to me. One of my most formative courses was in a private house with a well-known Italian artist who taught me first of all, how to draw simply using the pencil making sketches in black and white, using pencils of different shades for shadows. My teacher said that "the color comes later, first you have to know how to draw it. This is possible only by carefully observing what we have in front of us, keeping an eye on the voids, the space between objects, this and is a fundamental thing. ". Drawing is my passion, every time I paint I feel relaxed and happy. I can't imagine how happy I will be when my paintings seem so real, so well made that they are almost able to speak to the viewer.
