ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The work contains many visual indicators reminiscent of art informel or “action painting". It reveals gesture with the presence of hand. Created primarily with layers of very thinned paint and drips of thicker paint, this small piece offers the organic shapes of nature—glistening sunlight, flowing water, plants undulating in the wind in Summertime. I paint with gestures evoking time/space in motion, emotion, and undefined archaic inspiration coming from the invisible signs, symbols, and memories understood at some level by all of us. I typically build up layers and often deconstruct. Each layer is its own free, emotive, personal composition loosely based on previous layers. My goal is to create paintings that are less related to objective reality, and more related to emotions. Practically, I now find this goal unachievable—but time changes things.
