Factory painting of a mountain, trees and a stream with a small waterfall using the wet on wet technique popularised by Bob Ross. I have amended this painting to convert the mountain into an erupting volcano and the stream into a lava flow. A cottage nestles in an idyllic countryside setting but new high rise tower blocks have been built behind it. A brachiosaur roams across the foreground while an extinction causing asteroid roars through the sky above. This series of pieces makes use of existing works as the basis for new additions. These Bob Ross style paintings with their imagined landscapes of trees, mountains, rivers, lakes and valleys, idyllic glades and woodland clearings, ramshackle old cabins and snow topped peaks form the perfect world into which I have inserted new inhabitants and features. These paintings make a humorous statement as a parody of the kitsch paintings on which they are created and will definitely be a talking point in any room. Their traditional appearance belies their joke content and so they would fit in a variety of interior designs. In a more old fashioned room the gold frames and picturesque old master look would at first glance conceal the subversion of their cool new avant garde or pop culture inhabitants. These pieces ship wired ready to hang. As they are readymade canvases of some age collectors should expect some cracking to original paint finishes and age related marks on frames. This is all part of their look.
