ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The image is a metaphor for the politics behind mass producing weapons. New and Shiny, roll it out the door. The image is meant to create feelings of nostalgia and security. The falsehood of this belief. The ink on paper was meant to be easy to read. The flat finish to give richness and texture. The realism is supposed to transport the image quickly to the viewers mind where each individual may create their own narrative.

Adam Wheatley (b. 1972 – Australia) is a fine artist and film production designer/art director who splits his time between his arts practice and his film career. Wheatley has a Masters’ Degree in Cross Discilpinary Fine Art & Design from The College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales, Sydney. His work is informed and influenced by his passion for graphic novels, anime, sci-fiction and fantasy literature and film, with the themes largely metaphorical, focussing on contemporary conceptual social commentary. He has exhibited in solo and group shows at independent galleries including sell-outs at Sydney’s Blank Space (Artist’s Alliance-run), and Rushcutter’s Bay Gallery. He currently has work at Hero Complex Gallery, Los Angeles. But he usually sells privately, often to commission. Adam’s filmography includes: The Social Dilemma (premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2020); I Am Mother [2019]; Pacific Rim: Uprising [2018]; Mad Max: Fury Road [2015] and The Shallows [2015].
