Title:"Wanita Penuh Warna" The woman of many colors. In this abstract portraiture I have tried to capture the essence of a Sumatran woman in her traditional clothing surrounded by sumatran traditional homes called Rumah Adat which varies for difference ethnic groups in the island. This portrait painting unveils the timeless beauty of a Sumatran woman's traditional head dress worn on special occassions. Adorned in vibrant cultural attire, her eyes reflect a deep sense of wisdom, and every brushstroke tells the story of heritage and the richness of Sumatran culture. The blue sky shows the pleasant bright shiny days on the island and the dark sky resembles the rainy days. The hot red & orange shades in the sky depicts the unexpected volcanic eruptions in the island. The wild ginger flower that she is holding in her hand symbolizes warding off negativity & seeking protection they believe! Mixed media on Canvas Hand signed by the artist. Shafiya Aslam Ahamed is a self taught contemporary artist known for her vibrant and expressive paintings inspired by culture and her travels around the world. She specialises in merging vibrant colors with intricate details. Born and raised in Sri Lanka where she had her formal education and then went on to complete her BA in Business Management, Leadership & HR with FIRST CLASS honours from Northumbria University in the UK. Despite her impressive academic accomplishments her creative side won over and she embarked on an artistic journey to bring to life on canvas her love for creating artworks that resembled her experiences, inspirations and knowledge she accumulated while traveling with her family in the years past. Ahamed's work has graced the iconic billboards of Times Square in New York City and also at group exhibitions in Istanbul and Dubai ( including one at the world famous Museum of the Future )with upcoming exhibitions scheduled in London, Paris & Madrid as well in the near future. With a passion for pushing artistic boundaries, she invites viewers to join her on a visual journey that ignites conversations and challenges stereotypical perceptions. When not in her studio Ahamed enjoys travelling with her husband and two daughters and exploring the world for new sources of inspiration, playing board games with her family and indulging in the dual role of mother and teacher to her two girls. Ahamed is passionate about fostering creativity and believes in the transformative power of art to uplift and connect people from all walks of life.
