I wanted to find a challenge in another portrait by limiting my scope of colour and also scale. When one works very large, you loose some of the ability to work small, as your strokes and tools, become larger as well. Loved finding him halfway in my new direction and colour. I was walking into a few galleries on Monday and found myself to feel like a Fauvist of the 1910's in that my colourist work would scream loudly amongst all of the muted works. Thoughts of if I should change my work did cross my mind, but only for a micro second... I am who I am, and I won't apologise for the conviction of colour and I wish to scream, unbearably loud, with my work. It's what my soul requires me to do.

Contrasts within work, life, light and dark, soft and hard, good and bad just the beauty of things being, even a single look in a child's eyes or a bottle top long discarded and given to rust, all the minute changes in the being of things are where I find beauty and a reason to work.
