Part of the 2020 "White paintings" series. The White paintings series is an enquiry into the limits of memory and the fleeting nature of the human existence. What happens when people, events or situations are transferred into the realm of memory? Perhaps they lose their materiality, but they exist and are formed as fleeting images that are engraved in memory. In these paintings the contour and textures define the existence of the figures as they appear momentarily from the chaos of memory. The white color symbolises this chaos and oblivion and is the prima materia, the raw material out of which memory is formed.

Myrto Papadaki is a visual artist born in 1989 in Chania, Greece. She studied graphic design, illustration and visual communication in Athens, and adult education in Scotland and Malta as a scholar. In the meantime she started traveling and living in various places. Her creative practice spans across different media and has been deeply influenced by therapeutic work in expanded states of consiousness. It has been exhibited in numerous shows, festivals and editorials in Greece and abroad. She presented her first solo show "Spaces in Between" in Chania, in December 2019.
