Ryoko's style is reminiscent of the Bay Area Figurative Movement. Her concept takes from both abstract and representative painting principles. One can easily recognize the figure, but she relies more heavily on the abstract elements. Ryoko enjoys finding the abstract patterns and shapes in any environment. She uses the figure, shapes, and colors to evoke the viewers personal feelings.

Born in Japan, Ryoko Tajiri received BFA in Graphic Design from the Tama Art University. Her fascination with the Bay Area Figurative Movement led her to attend the Academy of Art University for a MFA degree in expressive painting. Since 2007, Tajiri has shown her work in momentous galleries and museums, both nationally and internationally. Right after her graduation, Tajiri was nominated for SECA Art Award from San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. She won Best in Show at the Roswell Museum and Art Centre. Later, she won 1st place in the 2012 Bakersfield Museum of Art exhibition. Along with the numerous awards, Tajiri’s artworks have been published in magazines and books, such as American Art Collector. Her works have been purchased by both private and public collectors, such as UC Berkeley and B. Miller, a former mayor of Sacramento.
