Hailing from a village that is located a little outside the city of Bangalore, the conflict of the urban and rural has always been the center of my works. As the city continues to devour the little villages around them, displacing the people and forcefully including them as participants of the urbanization process. It is the anxiety of displacement, loss of identity and concerns of environment that form a premise of my works. The recurring animal images denote the process of urbanization that is moving fiercely like a wild animal on the run, with no signs of slowing down. It also represents the effect it has on the nature around cities that have disturbed their habitats and force them to venture out into the cities looking for food and more than often this does not end well. The language of miniatures has always intrigued me and I continue to use its influence it has had as a part of my work.
