About The Artwork
Inspiration was a picture of a clownish lady in an old craft book my grandmother urged me to buy. This is a painting over an old painting of dancers I never cared for that I did 7 years ago. Because of this, you can see some of the heavy acrylic lines of the original painting appear as texture in the new painting. Also, the sides of the canvas are left in a yellow to yellow green finish as in original. I love the colors and the movement in this piece. The women's eyes are mesmerizing. I tried to stick to urban colors for a cool vibe but the reds in me kept fighting to come out as seen in the flowers.
