My grandmother, Velma, was 88 on her last birthday, and although she has dementia, when she found out how old she was turning she was delighted because she thought it was a pretty number. I had to agree and made this painting about her and things she loves. Even though it is very personal, I trust it also references themes in the viewer's life as well.
