Lonely tree at the Eastern River boardwalk. New York City is a fantastic place to shoot urban architecture photography. It’s easy to travel around with a tripod and camera and there are a wide variety of buildings and styles. Some buildings and monuments date back many centuries and stand alongside great modern constructions. In a city full of ideas and complexity I am drawn to the beauty and simplicity of minimalist architecture photography. Leonardo Da Vinci once said “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” and he knew a thing or 2 about style & elegance. Isaac Newton also stated: “Truth is ever to be found in simplicity, and not in the multiplicity and confusion of things.“ There are many different forms of urban architecture photography. As I get older I am drawn to the less complicated minimalist architecture photography What is minimalism? According to the Collins Dictionary minimalism is a style in which a small number of very simple things are used to create a particular effect. In effect, less is more. I follow principles for editing minimalist architecture photography. These align with how I shoot the images. I crop and rotate the image where necessary. I want the final image to have the correct composition. In Lightroom, there are some great aids when it comes to cropping and composition. I use the thirds & golden ratio overlay most. Sometimes the architecture itself will have some form of geometric pattern or perspective to guide me. In the final analysis, it’s a personal decision. I want it to be simple and minimal.

Ed "Big EZ" Izro (1965) is a photographing artist based in New York, NY, United States. Since the development of digital photography my camera and computer have become my main tools for creation. Observing the urban world, i am attracted by the abstract, rhythmic poetry of buildings. I use my camera like a paintbrush, to create beautiful images of different architectural forms. With my work, I allow everyone to see the true and outstanding beauty of brick-and-stone creations. I hope that with my photographs, people will be able to further extend their appreciation of urban architecture. My work has moved through variations on a theme of movement and color. Whether the camera moves or I move or the landscape moves it is all the same. Colors, moving blending, and soaking into one another create a sense of playfulness, the feeling you get when the wind is in your hair on a bright sunny day. More and more I wonder if there is any end to how one can capture the colors, the lines, and the essence of a place. I try to tell extraordinary stories of diverse cultures and communities through a fashion-inspired lens. Through both intimate and expansive perspectives, I try to reveal different subjects in vivid detail to share the world’s beauty. But New York City is my true inspiration. The colors, the textures, the wildness of this place, and the history are all intertwined in a fascinating, and often bewildering melting pot of sensation that forces me to make art. I have been always receptive to modern art, especially super-realistic, surrealist, hyperrealistic, and minimalist forms, which is very often reflected in my works. My artwork is a manifestation of my interest in abstract geometry and the ways in which its forms can be used to explore and express the complexities of our world. My practice is driven by a desire to create works of art that are both visually appealing and conceptually engaging. I strive to use color, line, and shape to create a sense of balance and harmony within my pieces and to evoke a sense of curiosity and contemplation in viewers. By using abstract geometry to explore and express the human experience, I hope to create works that are meaningful and thought-provoking. My inspiration comes from a variety of sources, including nature, music, and everyday life. I am passionate about creating pieces that are timeless and impactful and that will leave a lasting impression on viewers.
