Erich Roth is a fine art photographer who deals with Eros as the universal force of life. He was born in as a son of a press photographer and a darkroom technician. Already as a child, he considered the darkroom at home his favourite playground. Aged thirteen, he inherited his father´s Leica M2, allowing him to gather his first personal experiences with photography. Erich Roth found his artistic inspiration in the early 1980s in Munich and Paris, where he trained in modern dance. In Frankfurt he worked as an assistant director with Vivienne Newport at the Theater am Turm ( TAT ) and later as a photo assistant in an advertising studio. Since 1989 he is living and working in the region of Munich (Bavaria) as a professional photographer. His main focus in commissioned photography is on advertising agencies and the film industry (unit photographer). In 2001 he started his first exhibitions of artistic photography. Since 2004 Erich Roth is a member of the artist association FMDK. -Artist Statement- Of finding unfulfilled. Erich Roth's works arise from the perception of an inner unfulfilled being. This vacuum is the source of his path. There are moments on the way when the world speaks to him, gives him a fragment, sets an impulse. At other moments the path demands patience, passion and devotion, resistance must be dissolved. On such a journey the work comes into being. Its energies fill the vacuum for a time, until it empties again and a new journey begins. Each photograph is a lasting gift.
