This artwork is one in the Homage to Man Ray series. The famed artist Man Ray was a significant contributor to the Dada and Surrealist movements. He produced major works in a variety of media but considered himself a painter above all. He was best known in the art world for his avant-garde photography, and he was a renowned fashion and portrait photographer. His works often depicted the sensuality, beauty and grace of women. Man Ray's influence on this series is based on the concept of beauty in physical form and the sensual interaction between men, women and nature. His works featuring the Black Dahlia in particular affected this series.
"Man Ray was a leading feminist, and as such he pioneered the image of woman as a strong and self-assured individual of beauty, grace and sensuality. I take that viewpoint in my Homage to Man Ray series," says the artist.
Brian King is a listed artist, photographer and designer with nearly fifty years professional experience in fine art.
