ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Birch is a symbol of renewal in Celtic culture. They are quick to colonise new areas and can actually improve the soil quality. During my local walks in Lockdown they provided me with a symbol of hope and resilience. Light interacts with Birch bark in a very special way - even on overcast days, they seem to have an ethereal glow. I photographed in these woods almost daily throughout 2020, hoping to hold onto some of the vitality and spirit of the woodlands. The photograph will be printed on archival, exhibition grade, fine art paper. It will be carefully rolled into a tube for shipping and wrapped in archival tissue paper.
