Blue Reflections Print

I started out as an interior designer and still tend to think like one. I joke about "Suzy artist" vs "Suzy designer" and frequently what they like and do are different. Later in life I got interested in painting and have been doing that seriously for quite a while. I work from my own photographs and am always drawn to subjects that do interesting things in sunlight. I started with still lives from nature then moved on to larger close-up flowers and now cactus since I have moved to San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico. I have a lot of glass pieces that I collected when doing the still lives. I liked what they did in the light. So they are now around my house and as light hits them I find myself grabbing my camera. It started a couple of years ago with still lives then I started going closer and getting into the reflections and shadows and what happened when one affected the color of another. It has seriously grown as I collect more pieces, use more pieces and get closer and closer. They are now totally abstract which appeals to "Suzy designer." They work well in interiors, come in many colors and tend to also work in groupings since ones taken at the same time tend to have a lot in common. I am really enjoying the serendipity of what happens when I put it all together. I never know what I am going to get, I just start looking and capture what shows up. I am frequently amazed and excited!
