This work has been created during a residencie about "Science and art" on the french territory "l'Arpajonnais" near Paris. I worked with an astronomical observatory of this aerea. My purpose was to explore the relation between earth and space territories, using the light as a material, mixing shooting of planets (origins of the solar system) and photogramm (origin of the photography), visuel reality and map as a metaphorical object. I have always been close to the relation that an artist can have with a "site" or a "non site", with a special interest in using maps. I propose a new relationship to landscape by crossing different universes. This is a new kind of mapping mixing physical and mental spaces written with the black light of night.

Evelyne Coutas lives and works in Paris. She studied architecture and sculpture at l’École nationale des Beaux- Arts de Paris. In 1983, Coutas introduced photography into her work, using light and the photosensitive properties of the silver halide process to question the representation of reality within photography. Her first photographic work, “La chambre obscure” (“The Darkened Room”) – a series of photograms created in the moonlight of her bedroom – inspired her to explore further aspects of the medium. Combining experimentation with light and atypical photographic techniques while exploring her unique creative expression, Coutas’ images poetically question the delicate relationship between form and substance.
