City Tree- Limited Edition of 10 (Large) Print

This photograph has been made in the beginning of 2016 while strolling around in Haarlem, The Netherlands. Looking for to be triggered by something or someone and I came across this illuminated tree which stood out above everyone and everything else. This is an exploration of my own artistic journey. It’s a philosophical and psychological excavation which I am trying to unravel. It’s a part of me which was present since I was just an adolescent, before even knowing that photography was going to be my voice. My work is influenced by various styles, amongst others, a few painters and photographers that bring a certain mystical romantic vibe to their art - like Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Kees van Dongen, Breitner, August Sander, Joel Sternfeld, David Hockney, Lucian Freud, Rothko. My intention as an artist to put a mirror in front of the viewer. To look at themselves. The process of making a photograph is like looking for a resemblance of mood, mind or spirit.
