About The Artwork
In the High Desert of New Mexico, hummingbirds are present from late spring into September. The greatest number and variety are seen here during the fall migrations to southern wintering grounds. I keep feeders up from mid-March into October, but I also plant flowers that they like. When available, they often go to the flowers preferentially, and that is where I most enjoy photographing them. This little rufous female or immature male was aware of my presence, but continued to enjoy the floral feast.
