ABOUT THE ARTWORK

**Artist Statement:** In the heart of Franklin, Tennessee, where the rolling hills meet dense forests, there’s a palpable sense of history—an eerie beauty that lingers in the late fall and winter landscape. Barry, aimed to capture the haunting stillness of this region, where the weight of untold stories and hidden heritage resides quietly in the trees. These landscapes are not just scenes of nature; they are silent witnesses to a long, complex narrative of Americana—a tale of wealth, struggle, and resilience, etched into the soil and skies. In 2024, amid cultural shifts and the erosion of true historical understanding, these images serve as both reminders and questions. They reflect a time when the past feels increasingly fragile, and the stories we tell about ourselves become untethered from their origins. Through the lens of Barry, the beauty of Franklin’s landscapes asks viewers to reconnect with the land, to honor its hidden layers, and to seek the truths that lie beneath its surface—truths often left behind as we forge ahead into an uncertain future. These photographs stand as a tribute to the forgotten histories and the rich cultural heritage buried within America’s evolving narrative.
