Taken during a hot summer day in Malaga, Spain in August 2019. I am in constant search of tranquility; and this moment just popped at the vacation home we rented. I fell in love with the minimalist decor who reminded me about the fashion of late 60s - early 70s. The name of the photo "Huni" actually means "cone" in Turkish and it is selected not only because of the lamp's shape but also because a cone is usually used as a symbol of insanity by many caricaturists. Insanity is usually referred as a complex mental illness, however, it is also treated in places which are commonly designed in the most simplistic ways. Therefore I always believed that sanity & insanity are not opposing but rather complementing virtues. People, either willingly or unwillingly, pick one "way" over the other to express their existence. Also strikingly, we tend to take refuge away from daily insanity or stress in minimalist designs and simple environments; and in contradiction we tend to get more aggressive and lose our sanity if we are exposed too much of tranquility in the midst of simplistic environments.

Turkey
Been born in Ankara in 1982 and lived in Istanbul for most of my life, although I'm a Turkish photographer, I have stared photography in USA. I've been enjoying photography since 2001 and I've started photography as an amateur hobby to fill my spare time at university. Shortly, photography became a self-expression and a mediation tool for me. I've earned several amateur awards including 1st prize at IPA "Pet" category and I had one exhibition co-hosted with the encouragement of the established painter Funda Tarakcioglu. Currently, I am semi-professional meaning that I have an entirely different profession where I make my living. I still pursue photography mainly as a mediation method and I love to combine and exhibit literature and philosophy with the frames I capture. I mainly capture streets, urban textures, and familiar portraits. However, I do try new methods and news styles of photography. Lately, I have started to focus on drone photography & videography.
