Laila after making love Photograph

Laila was the first call girl I met on the streets of São Paulo. I made frequent visits to her house, trying to photograph banalities, scenes of everyday life, but what was offered to me always implied a dose of representation: a pose seduction game. This collection presents a photographic project which has two approaches: documentary photography of prostitution in the city of São Paulo (Brazil) and photographs of women´s bodies disseminated throughout the city. All of these images show the subjection of the female body to a symbolic system of representation. These photographs question stereotypes of women´s bodies constructed by the media and exposed to a collective gaze. This discussion aims to arouse awareness of representation of women´s bodies in Brazil, so frequently associated with eroticism.
