About The Artwork
This image is the result of 7 photos juxtaposed which I took on the East coast of Malaysia on an isolated beach duirng the monsoon season. From a sunny morning, the weather worsened dramatically in the afternoon. The wind started to blow powerfully, creating long waves. Then the tempest approached. That is when I started to shoot. I caught several lightnings from the same point on the shore. Then combined the best shots. But the image was not giving the atmosphere justice. The danger, the approaching wrath of nature, the wind, the water, the storm...I needed to have them all playing the role they were holding in reality also in the final picture. So I chose to apply a radial blur effect, to make the viewer feel the imminent tempest, the increasingly powerful wind and waves. The effect has also the function of dragging the viewer in the scene. You don't just look at my picture. You are part of it. You are the point towards which nature is approaching.
