Phantom 1/25 Print - Limited Edition of 1

The photograph is printed on a Lokta paper; a wildcrafted, handmade artisan paper indigenous to Nepal. It is made from the delicate fibrous bark of evergreen shrubs and has a translucency which adds to the etherial look of the portrait. The physicality of this photograph highlights the destructible qualities of a print and the translucent effect of the paper enhances the theme alluding to the indefinite within the series 'Lacuna'. The texture of my prints are similar to the fragility of human skin which is both expressive and implicit in the way that skin is so delicate and can be easily cut or grazed just like this photographic material is vulnerable to detriment. Printing my images this way was an intention to juxtapose the solidarity of the photographic portrait with my interpretation of exposing only traces of human existence. The paper is also handmade, revealing each print to be a completely unique piece of work, contrasting the make up of the digital photo, one that can be infinitely reproduced. To recreate the exact print would be impossible due to the natural compounds that make up the individual sheets of paper (please bear in mind that because of this every individual print will be slightly different due to the random fibre pattern). The aesthetic process of the project involved exploring alternative ways of portraying a prosthetic memory within my images, which always originated from experimenting with double exposure, both in camera and digital manipulation. The print will come with a signed and numbered authenticity card and will be boxed in its own floating frame (see additional pictures) that can be hung or stand freely on its own. The print can be seen from both sides of the frame and can be flipped either way. The measurements for the frame are W 25.5cm x H 31cm, Depth 4cm. Prints in bigger sizes are also available at a discounted price but will be printed via Saatchi Art and therefore not on the original Lokta paper. Limited Edition of 25.
