ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I'm lucky to live in a rural area near Cape Town where proteas grow wild and free in the mountains. Not only do I love having them in vases around my house but also to photograph these gorgeous flowers. I use cyanotypes, a historical photographic process from the 1800's to capture the beauty of proteas. The images are developed in the UV rays of the sun and fixed by rinsing the paper with water. Cyanotype prints are also called blueprints referring to the cyan-blue colour of the images. These images have a vintage look and nostalgic feel about them and will enhance any interior setting.
