ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Huge waves smash against the limestone cliffs of more than 50 metres high in Southwest Portugal. An amazing show of strength and resistance, not exempt of risk for the photographer and his/her camera; every big wave was followed by a dense shower of salty water... Apart from the impressive aspect, the sound of this place is also incredible, not only for the of the waves exploding against the rocks, but also the sound from underneath: With every wave entering, the cliffs itself fill with water from the sea through its holes, creating a spectacular sound as if the rock were alive and breathing. With huge waves the soils even shakes (slightly but impressing) and the water pressure creates impressive geysers of water and steam all around. This image is also available as set, as a collection of three prints. Printing will be made directly on forex (5mm), which highlights the reliefs of the details of the image. This print offers long durability thanks to its UV dyes with high resistance to water (fingerprints can be cleaned) and solar irradiation, it is also an elegant and resistant support that does not require a frame. The work is accompanied by its corresponding certificate of authenticity, signed by the author. Printing is monitored by the author with at least one colour printing proof. Strong resistant hangers are included in the shipment so this print can be put on the wall right after delivery. A supporting frame (at the back of the picture) can be delivered on request, its price depending on size and materials. I was born in Holland, I am a lawyer and a professional self-taught photographer, who spent the last twenty years portraying all kinds of natural landscapes, many of them in Andalusia, Spain, where I live. During my profesional trajectory I published six books about landscape photography, have had many exhibitions in musea and art galleries and organised numerous photo workshops and journeys, in Spain and other countries. The central theme in my work is the landscape, I try to capture these ephemeral moments when Nature shows all the essence of its beauty, mistery, strenth, resilience and peace, and the sensations and emotions that these natural places and instances can evoke. To be able to do so I often remain in the landscapes for a number of days, sleeping outdoors so that I can feel closely connected to the landscape and thus, able to give greater depth to my pictures.
