This work was inspired by an older black/white small photo of my brother Aquiles that my mother carries on her wallet. It is the first image where I blended my interest in portraiture, family history and the imagery of my water paintings. The image was done by combining a photo of the Caribbean waters from the beaches of my native Dominican Republic with the image of my brother Aquiles when he was about 17 years old. His stare is similar to my son, which now is 19. The lizards are a mythological symbol of youth.
