Born and raised in Connecticut, I was fortunate to be exposed to myriad artistic influences by way of my proximity to Yale University and New York City. Just before my move to Nashville about thirteen years ago I became enamored with Mixed Media. This platform offered endless material sources, tools and subject possibilities. My personal version of the form has been described as "Whimsical and Romantic," "Insightful and Intelligent," "Bold and Rich," and my personal favorite, "Uniquely off Center." Although Contemporary, influences evident in my work include Impressionism, Abstractionism and Pop Art, but generally speaking, I am not fond of labels. I instead choose to repurpose the words of Duke Ellington, "If it sounds good, it's good." As you might expect, I have no use for self appointed Critics poised to hand down declarations defining what is right and what is wrong. There is no right. There is no wrong. There is only what speaks to a viewer and what does not, but neither has any bearing on what I choose to create and how I choose to create it. My overall approach is greatly influenced by my fascination with light and perspective. I draw great satisfaction from challenging and contorting the parameters of both. What that yields is an "organism" that is essentially a reflection of how I perceive reality, my own personal not quite sane world. My ultimate goal is to move hearts and titillate minds. If I can bring a smile to your face or even better, alter in some small way what YOU see as reality, I am blessed. If you like my art and should decide to make a purchase, I would recommend that you not order the smallest size option shown under each thumbnail image. This is not about money, it is simply a question of what you will be able to see in a work. You are certainly free to buy a smaller size print, but there is quite a bit of detail in most of the prints that will not be easily observed in a smaller sized format.
