"Damsel in stress the second», limited edition of 20 prints The classical narrative «damsel in distress» (woman as the most passive figure who can only wait for rescue from the troubles) is an outdated story. Many modern damsels can take as much powers and responsibility as they can and will. They take a sword and chase away the surrounding dragons, and then they sit in a bar over an empty glass, because dragons aren’t easy. There is also a shadowy side to the responsibility for oneself and loved ones, which is really exhausting. It’s the fatigue, the fear of not being good enough, the stress that keeps all time in tension. This notification sound is a message with a meme or a message «The whole project needs to be reworked by Thursday?» Of course, all the damsels depicted on the lens will stand up and go further, but at a particular point they need not making decisions, solving problems, planning, but being. This is the second work of a series of linocuts called «Damsel in stress". The print is made by hand, a limited edition of 20 copies. image size: 21 cm x 29,7 cm (11.7 x 8.3 inches) paper size: 29,7 cm x 42 cm (16.5 x 11.7 inches) Each print is numbered, titled and signed by me. This etching is being sold without a frame.

Ukraine
I live and work in Kharkov, Ukraine. I do graphics including manual printing. I try to constantly experiment with technology, so most of my works are done in mixed media technique. Depicting people interests me the most. Even if I do landscapes or still lifes, this story is still about characters and emotions. I look for a reason of my work in what I see around me, because life is much more cunning and unpredictable than human fantasy. It seems to me that the artist is a prism. He collects impressions, emotions, and refracts it into some other form, which either amuses or frightens, but in any case does not leave you indifferent. Therefore, I believe that you need to learn not only to draw, but to look and see. This is important both for the artist's work and for life in general. We are very fragile guys, so the best way to maintain mental health amid a pandemic, crises, pebbles in a shoe and sudden inevitable deadlines is to look around and notice the every day beauty in morning coffee, in the funny granny’s hat or in memes with toads.
