For this series; Emotions of Stone, of which this is the first piece, I really wanted to focus on a reoccurring theme that I had noticed in my life at the time: the immense importance of self-reflection in order to achieve real growth or progress. This is a lesson that I often struggle with, so I made this as a reminder to myself to look inward from time to time, at my own actions, words, and patterns. I had been obsessed with statues at the time, and I knew that I wanted to use color to help me convey the emotion, since the form of the statue is so inherently rigid. I ended up choosing an overall wash of different blues, with hints and highlights of reds and purples to signify an overall feeling of solemn reflection, with hints of regret/anger here and there. May this piece bring a reminder into your home to look inward from time to time, as it provides growth, strength, and clarity. All canvases come with sawtooth hangers for easy installation, and a special treated coating that will give a nice vivid color while protecting from minimal scratching, dust, and water damage.
