"History Repeating" refers to the landscape in Hong Kong, both physical and political. I took the natural landscape as inspiration and as a representation of that which is constant, then cut it up and put it back together so that it is both familiar yet unrecognisable - a view that is new yet remains the same. It also refers to the political climate there, which has the region passing from the hands of one country to another, with power never being passed down to its own people. The result looks like a flower, reminiscent of the Hong Kong flag with it's five bauhinia petals.

My practice spans across multiple mediums, combining printmaking with photography and collage. I build up my images through a process of layering and fragmentation; evoking indistinct memories, lost time and fleeting emotions. Looking to nature and landscapes for inspiration, I focus on scenes that cannot be pinpointed so as to convey both a sense of intimacy and universality at the same time. It's more about experiencing the landscape than the image of the landscape itself. Printmaking allows me to not be too "precious" about my work, so I can play with colour, slice up images, burn them or layer them multiple times over. It's an endless series of experiments...
