ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is a collection of work that I have been creating over past few years. It is like a form of a daily prayer and meditation. In fact, I have been fascinated by Hebrew Calligraphy for a long time and I return to this form of expression frequently. Here are explore the meaning of words, names, and symbols in Biblical texts and Jewish tradition.

I was raised in an artistic family in the former Yugoslavia, where I spent much of my childhood at my mother's ceramics studio, learning the secrets of the trade. My formal art education began in Belgrade more then 30 years ago, where I attended secondary school for Design. I later studied photography in Prague and in 1993 moved to New York, studying Hebrew calligraphy with calligrapher Jay S. Greenspan. In 1997 I moved with my family to Krakow. There, I earned a Masters degree in Fine Art and Art Education, mastering the technique of linocut by the renowned Jerzy Jedrysiak. My graphics and paintings have been published and exhibited internationally. I now live in New Jersey. Art of Ksenija Pecaric Sentimental journeys echoing a Balkan past are distant in time and space from the current dreamsand imaginative visions of accomplished artist, Ksenija Pecaric. They exist, however, as overlapping realities that form the artistic expression of Pecaric's love for Jewish tradition, reflecting the past, commenting on the present, and offering inspiration for the future.Pecaric's black-and-white linocuts enchant the viewer with their fairy-tale metaphors and magic narrative that transcend literal representation. Each work invites the viewer to enter a world of possibility, to explore and discover new meaning in the traditional symbols of Jewish life.Pecaric infuses her work with a creative zest, boundless joy, and life-affirming passion. Enter her world and enjoy her fresh and enchanting perspective.
