Art Description

Printmaking: Monotype, Oil, Ink on Paper.

Monotype is print-making method which leaves only one original print. There is no edition of multiple images but only one remains. I paint with oil ink on smooth metal plate for unique effects expressing archetypes. Circle reminds of wholeness, spirit, completion, prosperity, protection, while square would associate with matter, solidity, work, security, shelter etc... Composition of this basic elements is like composing music, always surprising and open for interpretations.
I paint on metal plate and run it through manual printing press, as in old times, controlling the process by the feel I receive from the press while by hand turning the wheel of the roller which is passing over paper and the plate. Tightness, pressure and resistance are telling me if I need to tighten the pressure or loose it up. I'm attracted to timeless quality of the process, completely analog and manual, relying on experience and materials involved. I hope you can experience timeless in this work and also a feel of traditional methods relying on craftsmanship and connection to long line of predecessors who perfected methods and passed them on to us.
