LUBA OR BALUBA PEOPLE Luba, also called Baluba, a Bantu-speaking cluster of peoples who inhabit a wide area extending throughout much of south-central Democratic Republic of the Congo. Majority of them live in this country, residing mainly in its Katanga, Kasai, and Maniema provinces. They numbered about 5,594,000 in the late 20th century. LUBA SCULPTURES Generally, ancient sculptures in the Kingdom were symbol of power to the owner. The power were coming from spiritual world and the ancestors. The comb are: 1. Theses statues and or figures then became symbols, and were most likely used further to help assist and promote fertility for women. Believe or not, some women believed that could be pregnant as soon as use this comb on their hair.
