About The Artwork
I believe Audubon produced his paintings on 3 different sized papers. This was of course because of the varying sized birds which he produced life-size. The paintings where planned to be printed and the largest printing paper and press at the time was 'double elephant'. Even though this was the biggest available, Audubon had to paint birds like the Great Blue Heron and the American Flamingo with the neck bent over, just to fit it onto the paper. Where as with the Wren being only a few inches long, Audubon had to 'fill in' space, hence the amount of foliage on the smaller subjects. The original sculptures produce for this project are to the same size as Audubon painted them. Size of the original is 32"X24"X3" approximately unframed.

He studied art and design at a local art college for four years before moving to London to take an advanced course in typographic design at the London College of Printing. Peter worked for 15 years as a graphic designer and illustrator in advertising and design studios in London, Liverpool, Manchester and Wales before opening his own studio in Chester where for 20 years he produced a wide variety of art and design projects for a handful of reputable clients. He now works mainly on his own art and design projects.
