HISTORY OF ART: Hello, Thank you for visiting. And thank you for your patronage. This is a beautiful bust inspired by philosopher. The style that inspired the sculpture series to which this piece is a part of is "impressionism" and in particular, AUGUST RODIN. This is why this sculpture has exaggerated undulations, ridges, mounds. It is meant to convey feeling and emotion. Because of the round nature of the sculpture measuring it was very difficult. As such, all measurements are approximations. The sculpture weighs over 5 pounds. I would guess somewhere between 10 and 20 pounds. The inside of the sculpture is not finished but was left rough. The bust will be retouched and re-varnished before being shipped to you. WHAT IS A SCULPTURAL BUST? A sculptural bust is a kind of portrait of a person, made of clay. It was fired in a kiln and then painted with acrylic, oil and spray paint to resemble bronze. HOW IT WAS DONE? In 2001, I took a basic beginning course at Collin County community college in Texas. I had never sculpted before. The class offered to teach about different mediums at a beginning level. For some reason, which I believe is related to my psychic and mediumship abilities, I felt compelled to only do human busts which I had never done before. This was not a class on doing sculptural busts in clay and there was no specific instruction given on that. As a note, some people have expressed that the sculpture looks like Mark Twain. I don't recall if he was the one that inspired the sculpture.It could have been a philosopher. MYSTICAL WORK? I do work as a professional psychic medium, see, hear and speak with those who have crossed over. And I believe that I was channeling them when I did this work. This is why I define this as mystical artwork. This is not unlike the type of channeling done by Hilma af Klint and Georgiana Houghton, with whom I share a birthday (month and day 149 years apart.)
