“Dust Under Feet” , tiny Photographs, Magnifier and Acrylic box. The act of seeing and the power of vision are the keys in Dust Under Feet. The work consists of two elements. First are thousands of thumb-nail sized of photographs. From a distance, we may not realize that they are photographs. The audience sees them as dust or sand. However, by using the second element – the magnifying glass, then we see, in front of us, a universe of souls in the form of the miniature. Through a magnifying glass, we scrutinize the mini photos and find the faces of the unknown. They are the persons who one way or another were the characters of the Thai political history in the last 200 years. There are prime ministers, generals, protestors, prisoners, victims, women, men, heroes, and martyrs. Most of them are unknown to us. Because of the miniature size, even well-known persons look unfamiliar. These mini portraits finally became the sea of the unknown, the left-out, the forgotten. This artwork is a product from a decade of violence in Thailand. Having said that, I did not limit the work only to this decade or to Thailand. Dust Under Feet goes beyond a particular place and time. It is not only about Thailand, and it's not only about the contemporary nightmare. It aims to reach the truth of the history of violence throughout the world -- the truth that everyone is just a grain in the sand of time.
